What is Avorion A procedural co-op space sandbox where players can build their own space ships out of dynamically scalable blocks. Fight epic space battles, explore, mine, trade, wage wars and build your own empire to save your galaxy from being torn apart by an unknown enemy. The universe of Avorion suffered a massive cataclysmic event hundreds of years in the past, leaving your galaxy riddled with torn hyperspace fabric. You start out on the edge of the galaxy, far from the mysterious core. Build your ship, gather resources, and explore. The dangers increase as you move further inward, but so do the rewards.

Space has always attracted people. And Avorion is one of the embodiments of human desires. This game has no special plot or beautiful graphics. Like many indie games, Avoiron is built on a specific idea, for which the creators deliberately sacrificed the rest. The background is as follows – several hundred years ago, a cataclysm nearly destroyed the entire galaxy. Since then, no one has been able to break into the central regions of the galaxy. First of all, it is a sandbox. You start out with a small ship and travel between different galaxies. You can hunt for various pirates, take on assignments to eliminate those objectionable to the law and get a good reward. If you survive. Or you can become a pirate yourself. Loot merchant ships, raid stations, and so on. You can do a peaceful mining business. Split asteroids and meteorites, extract valuable ore, process and sell it, improve tools and look for precious resources further.
But what you will definitely do in any of these cases is to create a ship. And here the developers gave their best. Avorion offers a very advanced ship builder where you only have a basic ship in the beginning. You create the rest yourself. You place living quarters, power cells, loopholes and turret spots, rocket launchers, oxygen generators, armor elements and solar panels yourself. And each block has its own characteristics, depending on what material you use.
Your ship has a detailed physical model. If you add extra armor plates, the weight and balance of the structure will change. The ship will accelerate and decelerate longer, which can be compensated for by additional engines. Which also weigh something and consume additional energy. You yourself will have to think over the design of your ship and create its appearance by blocks in a three-dimensional constructor. At first, such ships look ugly and simple. But over time, you can create a whole flotilla of small and nimble fighters at your discretion. Or, on the contrary, create a huge and invincible star cruiser.

Avorion - Black Market is the first full paid expansion to the excellent open-world space exploration and building sim and it looks great. So far it seems like if you're an Avorion fan, the Black Market DLC is worth picking up.
On top of the DLC release, a massive patch also went up. It would be a bit ridiculous to talk about everything included in the patch because the notes are impressively long. Here's some highlights of the free update:

Avorion is a truly fantastic game. Seriously. I can't say enough good words about how amazing it actually is if you're a fan of open-world space games. While it's true there's others that have more depth in certain areas like the story, I've found that Avorion is just incredible when it comes to building what you want. Block by block you get to build anything from a tiny shuttle up to a fleet of huge ships in any style you want. I've seen it called Minecraft in space at times and it seems quite fitting, although certainly nowhere near as simple it gives that feel.
